Day 1
A driver picks you up in Jarabacoa and drops you at the trailhead near Manabao. The first stage of the hike spans about 4 km through lush jungle terrain. During the trail you’ll pause for a refreshment stop mid-way, and the day ends at La Compartición, a mountain encampment around 2,450 m above sea level.
Day 2
After breakfast at camp, the ascent continues on a roughly 13 km trail. You’ll pass through pine, ebony and mahogany forest, taking breaks to soak in the scenery. The goal: reach the summit of Pico Duarte at approximately 3,087 m above sea level. After conquering the peak and enjoying the views, return to camp for dinner and overnight.
Day 3
Following breakfast at camp, the hike descends back to the swamp area near Manabao where you’ll enjoy a picnic-style lunch in nature. After lunch the route continues back to Jarabacoa, arriving in the late afternoon.
