Full Description
Your experience begins at 10:15 AM at the Port of Sabana de la Mar, where your local guide will be waiting to welcome you. After a brief introduction, you’ll board a comfortable vehicle and begin a scenic journey toward Yanigua Waterfalls, located near Los Haitises National Park.
The drive itself is a delight — passing through coconut groves, cacao plantations, and traditional Dominican villages that reveal the simple charm of rural life. Your guide will share fascinating insights into local farming, medicinal plants, and the natural ecosystem that defines this region.
Upon arrival at Yanigua Waterfalls, you’ll immediately hear the sound of cascading water and see the emerald-green pools that make this place so special. The main waterfall flows gracefully over amber-rich rocks, creating a spectacular view and inviting you for a refreshing swim.
Take your time to enjoy the site — swim in the cool pools, walk along the river, or relax in the natural clay mud used by locals for its skin-healing properties. This mineral-rich clay gives Yanigua its nickname, “The Spa of the Forest.”
If you’re interested, your guide will also show you areas where natural Dominican amber can be found within the stones of the riverbed.
After exploring and relaxing, enjoy a traditional Dominican lunch served at a local eco-ranch near the waterfall. Feast on rice, beans, plantains, chicken or fish, salads, and fresh tropical fruits — all made with locally grown ingredients.
After lunch, you’ll have some free time to relax by the river before heading back to Sabana de la Mar, arriving around 3:30 PM with unforgettable memories of the countryside and its natural beauty.
