Full Description
Start your day around 09:00 AM with pick-up from your hotel or cruise terminal in Puerto Plata (Amber Cove or Taíno Bay). You’ll travel via air-conditioned transport through scenic countryside to the base camp of the Damajagua waterfalls. Your experienced local guide will provide a brief safety orientation and give you a helmet and life-vest.
Then you’ll embark on a modest uphill hike through forest trails, across streams and over rocks (approx 20–40 minutes depending on route). At the top you’ll begin the fun part — descending via natural water channels that serve as slides, jumps and pools. Whether you choose to slide, plunge or float, the guides are with you to ensure safety and the right route. Parts of the descent may require swimming or floating through calm pools, and you’ll emerge feeling exhilarated.
Once you’ve completed the waterfall section, you’ll enjoy a Dominican-style lunch buffet featuring local favourites such as white rice, red beans, chicken or pork, salads and fresh fruit. Some tours include coffee and chocolate tasting or a mamajuana sample (a local drink). After lunch you’ll be returned to your departure point in Puerto Plata in the mid-afternoon, with time to relax or explore further.
