Full Description
Start early with pickup in an air-conditioned vehicle from your Punta Cana hotel. Head into the countryside and discover a traditional ranch where you can feel the rhythm of Dominican country life. Next, arrive in Higüey and visit the impressive Basilica of the Virgin of Altagracia—an architectural and spiritual landmark. Then move into the heart of the local market—see stalls of fruit, crafts, cigars, local goods, and connect with everyday Dominican culture.
From there, journey into the Anamuya Mountains, where you’ll enjoy a scenic spot by a river, have lunch (typical Dominican fare) and perhaps a refreshing swim. Later the tour will take you to a coffee, cocoa and tobacco site where you’ll learn how these local products are grown and processed—you might even roll your own cigar. Finish your day relaxing at Macao Beach: feel the sand between your toes, breathe in the sea breeze and unwind before returning to Punta Cana.
