Full Description
After hotel pickup, you’ll enjoy a scenic drive to the arid yet striking region around Lake Enriquillo. The lake lies around 40 metres below sea level and features a unique desert-like environment where reptiles and wildlife thrive.
Once at the lake, a boat ride allows you to glide across the surface and soak in the landscapes — dead-trees jutting out of the water, saline flats, and dramatic views. You’ll hear about the indigenous Taino communities that once inhabited the area.
Next, you’ll have time for a dip in natural swimming pools such as those around Neyba or Las Marías — refreshing in the warm climate region. Some tours also include a stop in the town of Neyba for a break.
Finally you’ll be transferred back in the late afternoon to your hotel in Barahona/Paraiso/Los Patos areas.
