Full Description
Your adventure begins with pickup from your hotel in Miches around 8:30 AM.
Sit back and relax as you travel in a comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle toward Sabana de la Mar, passing through some of the most beautiful countryside in eastern Dominican Republic. Along the way, you’ll see rolling hills, coconut groves, and rural communities where time moves at a slower pace.
After about 1 hour and 15 minutes, you’ll arrive at the Port of Sabana de la Mar, where you’ll meet your local eco-guide. From there, your small group will continue inland toward Yanigua Waterfalls, located at the edge of Los Haitises National Park.
As you approach, the sound of the waterfalls and the scent of fresh forest air will welcome you. The Yanigua River flows gently through a green canyon, forming natural pools of crystal-clear water perfect for swimming.
This site is also famous for its amber-rich rocks and natural clay, which locals have long used for skincare and relaxation.
Cover your skin with the mineral clay, let it dry under the sun, and rinse in the cool river — it’s nature’s own spa!
After a refreshing swim and plenty of time to explore or take photos, you’ll enjoy a delicious Dominican-style lunch at a local eco-ranch. Dishes typically include rice, beans, fried plantains, chicken or fish, fresh salad, and tropical fruits — all prepared with love and local ingredients.
Following lunch, you’ll have time to relax or take a short walk along the river before heading back to Sabana de la Mar and continuing the return transfer to Miches, arriving around 4:30 PM.
This excursion offers the perfect balance between adventure, wellness, and culture, ideal for travelers staying in Miches who wish to experience the authentic natural side of the Dominican Republic.
