Start your adventure early in the morning with a peaceful canoe ride through the waterways of Tortuguero. As the sun rises, you’ll have the chance to observe caimans, iguanas, tropical birds, and other wildlife awakening with the day. The canoe tour lasts approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes and includes light snacks such as fruit, cookies, and warm drinks.
Later, you will continue with a guided day hike along the Jaguar Trail. This trail is about 2 kilometers long and takes around 2 hours to complete. Along the way, your guide will help you spot wildlife such as monkeys, sloths, snakes, and a variety of bird species. The dense rainforest environment provides stunning scenery and excellent photo opportunities.
In the evening, you’ll embark on a night walk starting at 6:30 PM. With supplied flashlights, you will explore the forest at night—when many animals become active. Red-eyed tree frogs, nocturnal mammals, bats, insects, and other creatures can often be observed. The night walk lasts about 2 hours and offers a unique perspective of the park’s biodiversity.
This experience can be completed in a single day or split across separate days depending on your schedule.
