Begin with pickup from your accommodation in Bayahíbe. Drive through the countryside to a traditional country house, where you’ll meet locals, learn about life off the land, and sample freshly roasted coffee and cocoa—the true flavours of the Dominican Republic. Then you’ll head to the botanical garden sanctuary called Monkeyland, where in about five acres of land the squirrel monkeys live in a natural-but-accessible environment. The monkeys are accustomed to human company: they’ll descend from trees, sit on your shoulder, eat fruit from your hand, and pose for photos. Guided in English, Spanish and French, you’ll explore the garden, learn about native plants and flowers, and have close-up interactions with the monkeys. After the fun, you’ll return to Bayahíbe with more stunning countryside views and a relaxed ride back to your accommodation.
