Full Description
On this 3.5-hour journey you’ll begin with pick-up from your hotel or cruise-ship port in Puerto Plata. Your local bilingual guide (English/Spanish) will lead you through a curated route of the city’s best attractions. First, you’ll visit a chocolate factory to learn about local cocoa production. Then head to the Macorix House of Rum to discover the traditions behind Dominican rum. You’ll also tour the Amber & Larimar Museum to understand why the region is famous for these gemstones. Next, you’ll explore the historic streets: “Umbrella Street” (Calle de las Sombrillas), the pink-painted Paseo de Doña Blanca, and Independence Central Park with its cathedral. The tour ends with a stop at the 16th-century Fortress of San Felipe – a true colonial landmark – before returning you to your starting point.
