The Maleku Indigenous Reserve covers 2993 hectares and consists of three towns: Margarita, Tonjibe, and El Sol. With a population of 1,000, the Maleku people speak their dialect, Maleku Jaica, preserving centuries-old traditions. The tour begins in La Fortuna at 8:00 AM with a 1-hour drive to Palenque Tonjibe. Guests will hike through the village, learning about local homes, artwork, cocoa farming, and burial practices. A 600-meter forest walk introduces medicinal plants and antique tombs. The tour concludes with a traditional Maleku lunch before returning to La Fortuna.
