Full Description
As evening approaches, you’ll be picked up from your hotel in the La Fortuna area and driven through lush surroundings for about 25 minutes to reach the Peñas Blancas River. Once there, your naturalist guide will give a brief orientation and safety talk before you board the raft. As you float downstream at dusk, you’ll watch the fading light and feel the calm as the jungle around you darkens.
With a specially designed lighting system on the raft, your guide helps illuminate animals along the riverbanks. You may spot sloths, howler monkeys, bats, opossums, and even owls emerging. After the raft ride, the tour ends with a visit to a traditional Costa Rican “Hidalgo” family home, where you’ll be treated to a homemade snack and authentic Costa Rican coffee, while learning about local culture and traditions.
