Full Description The journey begins with a pickup from your accommodation in Viñales. From there, you will head directly into the Valle de Palmarito, an area renowned for its vibrant green fields and spectacular rock formations. The route is designed to immerse you in the local way of life. Your first stop is a coffee farm where you will see the traditional methods used to cultivate and process coffee in this region of Cuba. You will have the chance to walk through the plantations and understand the dedication behind every cup.
As the hike continues, you will transition into the world of Cuban tobacco. At a local plantation, expert growers will explain the lifecycle of the tobacco leaf and the artisanal techniques used to create emblematic Cuban cigars. To round off the adventure, the trail leads to a hidden cave within the valley. Here, you can explore the underground beauty of stalactites and stalagmites before beginning the trek back. The total route covers approximately 9 miles (15 kilometers) of scenic trails.
What’s Included The tour includes hotel pickup and drop-off in the town of Viñales. You will be accompanied by a professional guide fluent in English and Spanish. All visits to the coffee and tobacco farms mentioned in the itinerary are included.
What to Bring It is recommended to wear comfortable hiking shoes or sneakers suitable for a 15-kilometer walk. Bring sun protection such as a hat and sunscreen, as parts of the valley are quite open. Don't forget a bottle of water and a camera to capture the limestone karsts and plantation views.
