? Full Description
Your morning begins around 8:15 AM at the tour office, where you’re greeted with snacks, coffee, and juice, and your guide briefs you on what to expect. Since Marino Ballena National Park doesn’t have a marina, boarding involves wading into the water — sometimes up to the knees — to get onto the boat.
Once you’re aboard, the real adventure begins. Your guide and captain navigate the park’s waters, helping you search for majestic humpback whales, energetic dolphins, slow-moving sea turtles, and graceful seabirds. Along the way, you’ll hear thoughtful commentary on the marine ecosystem, local history, and how the park was established to protect this special habitat.
After the wildlife-spotting portion, there’s time to jump into the ocean for a quick swim if conditions permit. Note that snorkeling isn’t guaranteed, especially during the rainy season when visibility is low. During dry months, there might be a chance to snorkel near “Whale Rock” or the Whale’s Tail, but it varies.
At the end of the trip, you return to land, but the experience doesn’t stop: the tour includes your national park ticket and lets you explore the trails on foot. You can walk through forested pathways, discover local flora, and head out to the famous Whale’s Tail formation on your own.
Your guide encourages an explorer’s mindset — you’re not on a showboat, but on a mission to respectfully observe wildlife in its natural habitat.
