Embark from Samaná and set off on an unforgettable adventure into the lush wilderness of Los Haitises National Park. This 6-7 hour experience blends hiking, boat-travel and kayaking through mangroves, caves and rainforest — the perfect half-day escape into nature.
Kayaking through mangrove channels and quiet waterways.
Visit to ancient caves with petroglyphs and pictographs from the Taino culture.
Rainforest hike where you’ll encounter medicinal plants and local birdlife.
Scenic boat ride across Samaná Bay and around dramatic limestone karst formations.
Your journey begins in Samaná Bay where you board a boat and travel into Los Haitises National Park. As you arrive, you’ll disembark and begin a guided hike through the rainforest, encountering a rich variety of plants and birds such as the Ridgway’s hawk and the Hispaniolan emerald. The hike leads you to the impressive sinkholes and towering rock formations which give the park its name (“hilly land” in the Taino language).
Next, you’ll explore the caves — including the remarkable Cueva de la Arena — where you’ll see ancient Taino artworks, petroglyphs and pictographs carved into cliff walls. After the cave visit, you’ll switch back to the boat and glide through mangrove swamps in the kayak, navigating serene channels before returning to your starting point.
