Embark on an extraordinary excursion starting from Sabana de la Mar. You’ll journey into the Dominican rainforest, passing planting fields of cacao and coffee beneath coconut palms. After approximately a two-hour hike (or horse-ride, if selected), you’ll reach Salto de La Jalda — one of the highest waterfalls in the Caribbean, with a sheer drop of over 120 m. You’ll have time to swim in its natural pool and absorb the powerful scenery. A picnic break by the falls gives you a moment to rest, then you’ll return via the forest trail to the community of La Loma. Here you’ll enjoy local hospitality: fruit wine, snacks, and a chance to learn about everyday life in the region’s small villages.
